Spotlight on....Sally In- Store Specials!!

With the whole economic slow-down, I practically live for sales and specials. One of my top spots is the Sally's In Stores Specials which lists what's on sale in their store. They also have printable coupons and other deals listed online. Its just a good thing to check every once in a while to see if your favorite products are on sale.

Spotlight on....Hype Hair Satin Rollers

These are a staple in my regimen. These are the best rollers for overnight sets or creating soft waves and curls. They make rollers for all lengths of hair (from small to jumbo). The satin cover protects the hair from the harsh spongey material (which can cause breakage and dryness).

Plus, they are pretty easy to find in most drugstores and super centers. You can also order them online.

My only complaint is that they are hard to find in larger sizes and, if you use them with wet hair, the satin starts to peel off after a few times. But they are still my favs :)

FAQ: Dry Braid - Outs??

Q: When ever I do a braid out and air dry over night, my hair always comes out super dry and frizzy looking. What am I doing wrong?

A. For me, braid outs work best on co-washed (not just washed hair). Its something about shampoo and airdrying that leads to frizzy, dry hair for me. If I wash with conditioner, add some leave-in and/or moisturizer and then airdry in braids, then my hair dries soft and moisturized. So, I would try co washing. If you want to shampoo, add a quarter size amount of shampoo to the roots only. Wash the rest of your hair with conditioner.

In addition, my hair tends to frizz when 1) my braids are not dry and 2) I make the braids too big. So, try smaller sections and make sure they are dry when you take them out.

Daily Discussion - Next Challenge Suggestions!

Hey guys, our Blowin' In the Wind Challenge is about to close in the next few weeks. I'd love to open up the next challenge to the viewers. Please list suggestions:) After a week, I'll put it into a poll and we can vote for our next challenge :)

If you are not familiar with challenges, its basically when we list an objective or goal and try to stay committed to that goal for a period of time. For example, a deep conditioning challenge is one in which we all decide to deep condition after each wash for a period of time (i.e. 3 months). We take pictures of our starting point, progress and then the final "reveal". If you fall off of the challenge, no harm done, just join us on the next one.

Spotlight on...IC Fantasia Serums!

I love Fantasia serums. They are great for roller setting and adding a nice sheen to blow dried hair. Serums also help the comb glide a lot easier through my hair. But avoid overdoing it - a quarter size amount on wash day and a dime size amount daily should suffice.

They are available at your local drugstore or super center in the ethnic hair aisle. Or, you can order online. My personal favorite is Fantasia IC HAIR POLISHER Daily Hair Treatment. I apply a quarter size amount during setting for silky smooth hair :)
