Daily Wetting??

B02771Q: Hi Macherie! I asked some questions on your website earlier and needed some clarification. Is wetting my hair daily and adding moisturizer and glaze ok in your opinion ( wearing a curly Joan on the show, Girlfriends look pulled back with clips no heat)? I am wandering if I am wetting it every day how often I should actually wash and condition it? What is "co washing"?

A: Hi! I think it depends on the hair but if you wet your hair every day and it seems to be thriving, then go for it! Im a little worred about the glaze, does it have alchohol in it? Also, have you tried a curl creme like Aveda Be Curly? It might serve the purpose of the moisturizer and glaze in one product. Other than that, I see anything wrong with wetting it with water every day, as washing (with shampoo) too frequently can dry it out. For co washing, check out my article on Co Washing for the details:) Hope this helps!

I have been doing daily co-washes for the past 7 months. It works for me. I swear by it. I only use shampoo once every 3 months... it's not for everybody though. My regimen is on my blog if you're interested southerntease.net

i wanna say Joan is my cousin

I love co-washes!!!

I actually read some place that spritzing your hair daily with water and then sealing it with some type of oil ( castor, jojoba or coconut, is best) As usual I have to do this twice a day because my hair seems to such this up. I haven't noticed no great difference but I do think it is a great way to keep hair moisturized.

I moisturize my hair everyday and cowash everyday. It is a bit annoying at times to have my hair wet on a constant, but I think it's better than having dry hair. I have 3c/4a hair and I really think this is a good go for it. Than again, not everyone can do the same thing. So, I definetly agree if it seems to go with your hair, by all means continue, but stop if it doesn't.

Don't forget Mixed Chicks deep conditioner.

I've with you Kathy, I co-wash my hair every other day-ish, so my hair is almost always wet...but better than dry, as you rightly point out.

On non-wash days and after my washes I spray it with a mix of olive oil and warm water which keeps it soft and moisturised

Since I started my hair journey I have been roller setting my hair every night to be able to style my short hair. I usually use diluted Infusium 23 moisturologie, with a little moisturizer and then roller set. I have to say that my hair for the last couple of months has been thriving. So I would say daily wetting is great for at least my hair.
