Out of Town - May 17th to June 3rd

Hi guys! Just wanted to let everyone know that I will be out of town May 17th to June 3rd.

First, I'll be graduating on Saturday then heading overseas to Japan, Korea and then Thailand for two weeks. I'll be there studying Asian business models and visiting companies like Toyota, Samsung, etc. Even though I will have already graduated, its a course that counts towards my graduation.

I'll still be able to post periodically but may be a little behind on emails and comments. I also suspended the email consultation feature until I get back.

Hope you guys have a great weekend! Chat with you soon!

"Blowin' in the Wind" Summer Challenge - Pics of Airdried Hair

Get ready to laugh. Here are pics of my hair after being airdried in a bun for 24 hours, lol. I was tired last night and just wanted to celebrate the beginning of summer and the fact that I shipped my dryer back to Philadelphia. Back in a bun, we go!!

May Member of the Month - Ekaette

Dsc04204 1. What is you styling preference (relaxed, natural, texlaxed) and hair type?

I'm relaxed and my hair type is 4a.

2. What is your regimen? What products do you use and how do you style your hair from wet to dry and on a daily basis?

My regimen is pretty straightforward. I wash my hair two or three times a week and either air dry or rollerset depending on how busy I am with school. I prepoo with any combination of oils which always includes coconut oil and maybe cheapie conditioner if I am feeling a little frisky. I deep condition every time I wash. I clarify about once a month and I take one multivitamin and one daily serving of futurebiotics (recently switched from GNC Ultranourishair) everyday. I relax no less than 8 to 9 weeks but am trying to stretch longer. I also henna about once a month. I use coconut oil to control my new growth. I put it in a bottle with a spout to get it all up in the NG and massage my scalp for a few minutes. Smells delish and my hair feels delish the morning after.

I leave room in my regimen to play around bc I like playing with my hair. For example, I switch up the oils every once in a while but will never stray from my beloved coconut oil. I love to experiment with my products but if something doesn't work I come back to my staples.

Salon Review - Olive's Salon and Day Spa

Hpsalonmid Web address: www.olivestextures.com
Address: 1198 Boylston Street
Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts 02467

Telephone: 617-734-3944
Hours: Wed 10-5, Thurs 10-6, Fri 10-5, Sat 9-1, Sun 10-2

Stylist: Maria

I’ve actually been to this salon before but wanted to write a formal review. The salon was founded by the late Olive Benson, a pioneer in the ethnic hair care industry. She created the “off the scalp” technique of relaxing hair and has received numerous awards and distinctions for her work. Olive’s salon has its own line of relaxer and styling products.

Décor/Ambience

The salon was nicely decorated. It had a nice spa-like ambience. It is located in Chestnut Hill, a quiet affluent suburb of Massachusetts.

It is apparent that the owners spend a lot of time and money trying to make the salon look and feel very upscale. Even the website is well done and frequently updated.
